I'm confused. Federal law prohibits discrimination on the basis of many things, employment, housing and, wait for it, religion among them. The First Amendment to the Constitution clearly states that there may be no state-established religion. That, incidentally, works in the mirror image. The state may, therefore, not preclude any 'lawful' established religious practice; such as circumcision, baptism, sacramental wine, peyote or even 'snake worship'.
I find it interesting that the LGBT community feels they may insult, with impunity, and even attempt legal action against businesses lawfully practising their right to serve customers as they wish. Christian based businesses who choose not to serve the LGBT community do so without denigrating that community. They simply choose to forego business; as do those who choose not to open on Sunday. In one case, a pizza parlor will readily serve pizza to gay couples. They will, however, politely refuse to cater same-sex weddings which, in their beliefs, is a sinful enterprise. That is their choice and they pay for it at the cash register.
The LGBT community has the right to take their business anywhere they wish; including exclusively to those who support, or at least are not distressed, by the lifestyle choice. That is the way the free market works, via the cash register. To go out of their way to destroy any business, by insult and innuendo, that operates in a manner counter to 'their' beliefs is exactly equal, as an illegal act, to those who would force the LGBT community underground by the same means. A business is all but destroyed because its owners does not believe same sex marriage to be right. But, it does not proclaim such to the detriment of the couple. Who is the 'bigot' here? Are we establishing a new class of hate crime?
